What you get back when plans change, and how refunds are handled.
When you cancel a confirmed booking, what you get back is set by the cancellation policy shown on that stay before you booked. Nothing is charged until a booking is confirmed, so cancelling an unpaid request or an accepted-but-unpaid booking costs nothing. Last updated 6 October 2026.
Refunds are reviewed and sent by our desk — they are not automatic or instant. We email you when a refund has been sent.
Each stay carries one of four policies. The policy that applied to your booking is shown on the booking page and was shown before you paid:
Flexible: Full refund up to 7 days before arrival; 50% after that.
Moderate: Full refund up to 30 days before arrival; 50% up to 7 days; none after that.
Strict: 50% refund up to 60 days before arrival; none after that.
Non-refundable: No refund once confirmed, apart from tourist tax for nights not stayed.
The refund is worked out from the day you cancel, counted in Davos calendar days: cancelling at any time on the day of arrival still counts as before the stay. Amounts are rounded to the nearest 5 rappen in your favour.
If a stay had no policy set, we agree the refund with you case by case after you cancel.
The service fee is refunded in full whenever the room price is refunded in full, and otherwise kept.
Tourist tax is always refunded for nights you do not stay: it is owed per night actually spent in Davos, and a cancelled night is not spent there.
Card payments are refunded to the card you paid with. Banks usually show the refund within 5 to 10 working days of us sending it.
Where a booking was paid by bank transfer, the refund is made by bank transfer to the account you paid from, and we record the reference.
A refund can never be more than was actually captured for the booking. We never refund more than we hold.
Some stays carry a refundable security deposit. Where deposits are taken as a card hold, the hold is placed on your card the day before arrival and released a few days after checkout. A hold is not a charge: no money leaves your account unless the host opens a damage claim and we capture all or part of it, which we always explain.
Where card holds are not in use, the deposit is arranged directly with the owner. Either way, the amount and the terms are shown on your booking.
To cancel, open the booking in your account and choose to cancel it: the page shows exactly what you get back under your policy before you confirm.
If you expected a different refund, were charged something you do not recognise, or have a problem with a stay, open a help case from the booking. Our desk will look into it and put it right. You can follow where a refund stands on the booking at any time.
For anything else, write to hello@davosevents.co quoting your booking reference. How payments are taken is explained at https://davosevents.co/payments.
